Paying with cash allows you to notice exactly how much you are paying per drink, instead of simply putting it on your tab all night. This way you won't be mindlessly dwindling away your bank account, you'll actually be saving money. Here's another little something that could help you out, this way you won't forget to tip! When you leave a tip, you can become the bartenders friend which can get you a nice discount now and then.
Athens, OH is home to three incredibly delicious local breweries that many Ohio University students do not know about. These three breweries are Jackie O's, Little Fish and Devil's Kettle, and each one of them offers nationally-known beer.
Most college students at Ohio University stick to only going out on Court St. and do not think about doing anything besides that; however, there are many different alternatives to Court St., including going to enjoy some delicious beers at one of these three breweries. Jackie O's has two locations W. Union St. and Campbell St. (both within walking distance). Little Fish is located at Armitage Rd., which is only a four minute drive, and Devil's Kettle is located on Columbus Rd. that is only an eight minute drive. All three of these locations are extremely close to Ohio University, and yet many students don't visit these local breweries.
These breweries offer an array of different types of beer, from IPA's to fruit-style beer to coffee flavored beer and everywhere in between, there is a type of beer for you.
Here are the top 10 most popular beers from these three breweries (in no particular order).
Do you ever get tired of going to the same bars, listening to the same music, and doing the same things every weekend? Ohio University students are no strangers to the Athens nightlife, but many students are stuck with the same routine every time they hit the town. If you're in the mood to try something different instead of hitting up The CI or Crystal for another pitcher, bars such as Casa Nueva, The Smiling Skull, Tony's Tavern, and many more have plenty of exciting events and activities that may take you by surprise! We've listed a few of them for you below.
To have a healthy night out on Court Street is very difficult to do. Some would say that it is impossible. I would agree with those people, but there may be some alternatives to a night on the town. Not that it is extremely healthy but it could easiliy save you a few bucks and you could feel better the morning after. These two startegies help me get through the night financially and socially. Many people go with these approaches too, as it works well for them and was big before spring break came.
We all know and love Court St., since freshman year, that is where most of us wanted to be on a Friday night, or Thursday, or Wednesday... probably Sunday as well. But if you're a senior and you've partaken in your fair share of shuffles you're probably feeling that there has to be more than just Court St. I'm glad to say that there are more options, in fact there are 4 very good options that are still within walking distance of where you might live.
